Highschool classmate: What’s up with you?
Me: Oi, Bert! Tagal ka na nga naming hinahanap. Buti natunton mo kami? I’m doing great eto tatay wannabe. Ikaw ba?
Highschool classmate: Really? Tatay ka na din? How’s married life? Who’s the wife?
Me: I’m not married, nagka love child lang? The mother is married to somebody else not me.
Highschool classmate: Bakit ganun? What happened?
Me: It’s a long and sad story. I tell you, it’ll beat up Maalaala mo Kaya stories. What about you?
Highschool classmate: I won’t ask further. I’m married with two kids, both boys. How’s your kid?
Me: He’s doing great, schooling.
Highschool classmate: Lasalista din?
Me: No. Rival school.
Highschool classmate: Wala ka pa balak mag asawa?
Me: Wala pa.I mean, wala naman aasawahin.
Highschool classmate: Maghanap ka na. We’re not getting any younger. Para may katulong ka din sa pagpapalaki ng anak mo at may inspiration ka sa buhay other than your kid.
Me: Easier said than done. I’m still waiting for the right girl.
Me: Nope. Don’t take it literally. I can marry at age 75 if I want to.
Highschool classmate: Ang hirap nun pre. Parang di ko kaya yun.
Me :My son’s already 9 years old, tingin mo di ko nakaya?
Highschool classmate: Pare suggestion lang. If I were you, maghahanap na ako ng misis.
Me: May mommy naman anak ko yun nga lang we’re no together. My son knows everything he needs to know and he’s Ok with that. I’ve explained everything to him with all honesty. And thanks for your suggestion. Come what may.
Pero go and find one. I hope I did not offend you.
Bwiset!
My two cents : I just can’t understand kung bakit kailangang i-pressure ako ng ibang tao (those people who don’t know me well). Being single still at the age of 29 (I’m going 30 next month) doesn’t make me less of a person.I’m still enjoying singlehood and I think I’m a cool single dad.Hehe!
I don’t want to preach here but all I can say is that I want to make sure that I’m better prepared (financially, physically, emotionally, and psychologically) before walking down the aisle. And if that doens’t happen, I will not regret it, I hope. My son is all that matters to me right now. He is my life.
