Of Archbishop Cruz and jueteng

Not a fan of the man pero noong pinananood ko yung Che-che Lazaro Presents: Mga Anak ng Jueteng, I saw the point he was trying to make. I find him funny, in fact, I guess, he finds himself funny too, sometimes laughing at himself with what he's saying. But surely, he got his point across. For me. Honest and clever, this priest.

Archbishop Cruz: According to Senator Pimentel (pertaining to Pampanga), that's the Vatican of jueteng and I agree, up to now. I think he had a prophetic vision. Lubao is the St. Peter's. (Laughs hard).

Archbishop Cruz: Pera. Judas started it all, my dear

Che-che Lazaro: 30 pieces of silver.

Archbishop Cruz: Yes mam. Then killed himself. But these people, that's the last thing they will do. (burst into laughter).

Archbishop Cruz: And don't tell me jueteng does not kill.

Che-che Lazaro: It does?

Archbishop Cruz: It does. The moment, for example you did not make intrega, you're done. You are a collector?, you're gone. And the moment you violate the norm of territory, you're gone.

Archbishop Cruz: Just because you cannot stop it, you legalize it. What's next? You'll legalize drugs? You'll legalize prostitution? Just because you cannot leak it, you say it's according to the law. Oh c'mon, nakakahiya naman yon.

The highschool bestfriend

Una ko siyang nakilala noong first year highschool kami, transferee siya.

He was the student council vice president and a consistent class officer.

Ako pa rin ang takbuhan niya tuwing kailangan niya ng excuses, pinagtatakpan ko pa rin siya even after highschool. Drinking buddy sa lahat ng problema.

Mahilig kaming kumain at mag gala. Dyan kami magkasundo. Buddy-buddy kami sa mga fiesta o kahit anong kainan man yan.

Nasa 3rd year college kami noong bumalik ulit ang sakit nya. For the longest time, akala ko completely healed na siya, nagkamali ako. Pero I felt no emotion dahil alam kong gagaling ulit siya. Hindi yun ang first time niya, immune na siya dahil simula ng magkaisip siya, taglay na niya yung sakit na yon.

Mas tumibay ang samahan namin dalawa. Most of the time, nandoon ako para sa kanya para suportahan siya.

April 1995, we celebrated his last official birthday sa ospital. I never saw him cry kahit isang beses.

June of 1995, tinawagan niya ako, may post birthday celebration siya.

I then heard the bad news. Around 3 am that day, he passed away.

Cool pa ako noon, I went back to sleep dahil sa sobrang antok.

I could have said my final goodbye. Sobrang sakit.

Others may find it weird pero eversince mamatay siya for the past 15 years, parati ko siyang dinadalaw sa sementeryo tuwing birthday niya, death anniversary at pasko. Wala pa akong na miss since then (kasi baka ako ang dalawin nya pag nakalimot ako). That’s the least that I can do to thank him for the awesome friendship.

Its been 15 years since he died of leukemia. He will remain as one of my bestfriends till life after death.

See you in heaven!

The Movers

People (other than family) who in one way inspired and taught me valuable lessons in life that I still carry till now.

1. The fab 5 – the finest and undeniably the best friends I had. We’ve known eachother since fetuses days. These lifelong friends taught me the real meaning of through thick and thin.

2. Fr. Medardo “Ardie” Ong – the best priest I knew. He’s got a great sense of humor with an undiminished character. I became religious because of you.

3. Mama Tess and Papa Badong – my 2nd mother and father. I will always be thankful for giving me a second home and family.

4. Pong – the highschool bud. The immeasurable, unconditional and mostly fun-filled friendship we had will always be treasured. See you in heaven!

5. The Greenies – the rest of the elementary and highschool buds. School and after school life will never be the same without you guys. Animo!

6. Gab & Jong – childhood playmates at Lola’s house. Childhood vacations became adventure-filled because of you. I can never forget the afternoon trips at the nearby rice fields catching shrimps, fishes, spiders.

7. William, Richard and Ton-ton – childhood playmates at Tita Zeny’s house. Weekend vacations meant playing tex, laste, goma, etc., climbing trees and roofs and going to “neverland” minus tinkerbell.

8. Smashing Pumpings – the college kada. Despite academic hardships learning math, science and other god-knows-how-hellish-it-can-be-when-math-and-science-joined-forces subjects, became a little less scary and worth taking. The Nasugbu and Balayan Batangas trip, the Angat, Bulacan and Guagua, Pampanga trip, weekend parties, overnights, et. al = priceless.

9. Ate Yeye – the Sunday school teacher. It was in her school that I first showcased my acting prowess. Bible reading became uber cool.

10. The Dentro peeps – our neighborhood. We survived numerous brownouts back in the late 80s, the 1990 earthquake, the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption ashes and recently Ondoy. We’re still here.

A letter from a teenage Filipino to the WHOLE WORLD

August 23, 2010

"A letter from a teenage Filipino to the WHOLE WORLD”

As you are reading this letter, I bet that you have seen/heard about what happened earlier in our country.

Tourists were hostages of a policeman here, Rolando Mendoza. After a few hours of the horrible crime, some of the victims were dead including the hostage-taker.

I wrote this letter not just to apologize but also to let everyone know that we Filipinos are not all like Mendoza. We are loving and good-hearted people.

For so many years, our country has been standing tall and surpassing every dilemma; be it small or big. Years ago (back when I wasn’t born yet), you have watched us fight for what we think is right. We fought for the democracy of our nation.. The EDSA revolution. But that’s just one out of many.

Second. We Filipinos have been serving other countries for our families and we treat you as our own as well. With all due respect, I thank you all for giving us the trust through the years. For helping us to become what we are now.

The Philippines is more than just a group of islands. We are a nation of strong and remarkable people. A country of beauty and love known to be hospitable and well-valued. I humbly apologize for what happened tonight. No one in this world would want something like that to happen for life should be valued.

I politely ask the attention of the world. Please do not judge and mistreat us just because of what happened tonight. I have been searching the net and found terrible things. Hong Kong advices to avoid travels here, China and HK bans Filipinos and that Philippines is the worst place to go.

I can’t blame you for what you have decided but I hope that you could understand. Our country is now in a sea of problems. And I know for sure that we helped you in a way or another. Let peace and understanding reign this time.

I know that this letter will just be trash but I wish that you would understand. On behalf of the Philippine population.. WE ARE SORRY.

As a song puts it…

And I believe that in my life I will see an end to hopelessness, giving-up and suffering. And we all stand together this one time then no one will get left behind. Stand up for life. STAND UP FOR LOVE

Sincerely yours,

Reigno Jose Dilao

Catbalogan City, Samar

Guess who's back?

Definitely not me.

At mahal na mahal na siya in just a span of less than three months?

Good sign, willing talaga cyang matuto..

Badminton at running ang pinagkakaabalahan ko ngayun aisde from daddy duties, work and school kaya ako busy.

I'm helping out our clan sa pag oorganize ng reunion.

I won’t be really back. Sobrang busy.

Bakit ba talaga ako busy? Alam ni Gibo ang sagot.
